You do not necessarily need a degree to train as a mediator, but you would need to show that you can learn beyond GCSE level. You will be assessed on pre-entry for your learning and development needs and will be fully supported by your designated learning mentor.

There will be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12.

There is a minimum of 60 hours face to face attendance required and an additional 20-30 hours reading, research remote learning and completion of assignments. The course structure would normally consist of remote learning, 9 days spread in three blocks of three and submission of final assessment materials. ( for example if you started a course in November, you would be a trained mediator by the end of January.

You will be supported by your designated learning mentor, your trainers and by your PPC.

On successful completion of the course, you will be required to have a post-training review with your chosen/ designated Professional Practice Consultant (PPC). Integrum can provide this at a cost of £125. The purpose of this meeting is for you to be able to reflect on your learning and understanding of the course and identify an action plan ( CPD plan) in order for you to begin your journey as a trainee mediator and the route to accreditation.

No, you can practise private mediation cases once you have completed and successfully passed your FMC approved mediation training course and are registered with the Family Mediation Council (FMC). You will at this stage, have the title of ‘trained mediator.’ You can then work towards achieving full FMCA status- will be approved to carry out legal aid work. Please note that you will at all times, be expected to adhere to the FMC Code of Practice post training.

A lot of commitment and time !!! and You will require a PPC,( the costs  will be agreed between you). You will need at least   hours supervision and guidance including observations. You will then need to submit your portfolio to the FMC at a current cost of £275 for electronic submission and £350 . There are further costs should you have to re-submit. As you long as you can return to the next module within eighteen months, you may continue the course. You cannot join a module without passing the previous sequential module.

Yes, in a word you could however; as you will be assessed continuously, this will be very rare and any developmental needs you require will be picked up early on and you will be supported through your entire course.
